The principals of the company are Joe McMurry Jr. – President – shareholder – with over 31 years experience in construction, Tony Oswalt – Vice President – shareholder – with 28 years experience in construction, and Art Powell – Construction Manager – shareholder – with 26 years experience in construction.

ABS, Inc. currently employs 25 in-house personnel with job tasks ranging from carpentry, project estimation/management, office staff, and general laborers. We have a sub-contractor base that stretches across the U.S. The total work force makes up a multi-million dollar per year job force. All of our project managers, job superintendents, and office support staff are very qualified in the construction industry.

Joe McMurry Jr. has been President of company since the beginning of the company in 1990. He is 45% shareholder of corporation. Joe attended The University of Southern Mississippi in the Construction Technology department from 1980 – 1983. After attending college, Joe was employed by Joe McMurry Sr. at J&J Electric and Contractors, Inc., a construction and electrical contracting company, as a field superintendent. After working in field for approximately five years, Joe was promoted to Vice President of J&J Electric and Contractors, Inc. in 1988. Joe served as Vice President for J&J for approximately two years at which time Joe McMurry Sr. retired. In 1990, upon retirement of Joe McMurry Sr., Joe created Advanced Building Specialties, Inc. in order to continue work with current accounts that J&J had serviced for years, but with a more marketable name. Joe McMurry Jr. and Tony Oswalt were the founding shareholders of ABS, Inc. He is responsible for most of the Design/Build projects that ABS, Inc. is contracted to do. He is a CAD operator facilitating the design/build aspect of the company. Joe has continued to serve as President since company start-up, and is active in daily operations in field and office.

Tony Oswalt has been Vice-President of the company since the beginning in 1990. He is 45% shareholder of the corporation. Tony was employed on construction crews for J&J Electric and Contractors, Inc. in 1984. He began working in the field on construction crews. He continued on construction crews for several years and was promoted to a field superintendent position in 1988. In 1990, Joe and Tony founded Advanced Building Specialties, Inc.. Tony continues to work in the office and field as Vice President in daily operations of ABS, Inc.  He also works with many customers on Design/Build projects and several national accounts on a daily basis.

Art Powell is Secretary-Treasurer of Advanced Building Specialties, Inc., and has held that position since 2002. Art was employed on construction crews and maintenance crews with J&J Electric and Contractors, Inc. in 1987. He continued to work for our company as ABS, Inc. was opened and became operational. He worked on construction crews for ABS, Inc. until 2000, at which time he was promoted to a project manager’s position. In 2006, Art was made 10% shareholder and partner in Advanced Building Specialties, Inc., and has served as Construction Manager for the company since that time. He is active in daily operations of ABS, Inc.

Key Personnel

Carla Oswalt – employed with company since 2003 as Office Manager.  She remains in that position to date.  She oversees all of the daily operations of the office including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and job costing.

Charles Ray Magee – employed with company since 2002.  He worked on construction crews for app. 6 years prior to being promoted to superintendent.  He continues to date as a field superintendent managing individual projects from start to finish.

Gary Riels – employed with company since 2001.  He worked on construction crews for two years prior to being promoted to superintendent.  He continues to date as a field superintendent managing individual projects from start to finish.

Mark McKinley – employed with company since 2000.  He worked on construction crews for app. 5 years.  In 2005, Mark assumed the role as Maintenance Manager for a company maintenance program.  In 2010, he was promoted to a field superintendent position.  In 2014, he assumed the role of Lead Projects Manager overseeing quality control over many of our on-going projects.  He remains at the capacity at present time.

Kenny Reed – employed with company since 2002.  He worked on construction crews for app. 10 years.  In 2012, he was promoted to a field superintendent position.  He continues to date as a field superintendent managing individual projects from start to finish.

David Wigley Sr. – employed with company since 2003.  He was employed as superintendent and remains in that role as a field superintendent managing individual projects from start to finish.

Cody Powell – employed with company since 2000.  He worked on construction crews for app. 11 years.  In 2011, he was promoted to a field superintendent position.  He continues to date as a field superintendent managing individual projects from start to finish.

Canton McMurry – employed with company since 2011.  He worked on construction crews for four years.  In 2015, he was promoted to a field superintendent position.  He continues to date as a field superintendent managing individual project from start to finish.  He also is a CAD operator.

Fritz Webb – employed with company since 2014.  He has over 30 years experience in construction, with last 10 years in superintendent capacity.  He continues to date as a field superintendent managing individual project from start to finish.

ABS, Inc. has several other superintendents and other key personnel working at this time. Those listed are employees that have been employed with us for several years or act as key employees to facilitate the company as a whole. We are proud to have such a qualified and responsible staff.
